This past week, nearly a dozen preschoolers, most of whom have been homeless, graduated from Father Joe’s preschool program.
Youth homelessness has become a huge issue in San Diego, driving many local schools to begin offering services for unhoused students and families.
Father Joe’s program, in particular, includes not only a textbook preschool program, but provides its young students with therapists and staff who are able to tailor activities for individual kids.
About half the graduating class will begin elementary school in the fall while the others are headed for TK.
