AI and Mental Health Monitoring

F3 Partner Gretchen Shipley, head of the firm's Education Technology practice, will join The School Superintendents Association's (AASA) Student & Child Privacy Center and the Public Interest Privacy Center (PIPC) for the second session in a three-part webinar on legal considerations of AI in public education.  This important series will cover how mental health monitoring software can use AI to analyze student activity across web browsing, social media, and email to detect potential threats of self-harm, depression, even suicide. Using this type of software presents significant questions on the responsibility for districts on the duty to monitor and respond to behavior alerts, and this program will delve into those questions.
